Gravel road repairs in the Boorowa district.

Boorowa, Rye Park, Frogmore, Rugby and everything in between, using the gravel you already have.

  • Usually far cheaper than re-sheeting, because we reuse the gravel you already have.
  • Most roads and driveways are done in a day.
  • Drive on it straight away. No curing, no closures.

A gravel track with potholes starting in the wheel tracks, late afternoon light

Patching potholes is why they keep coming back.

Boorowa, Rye Park, Frogmore and Rugby, on the eastern side of the Lachlan Valley Way. Open farming country with long access roads and laneways that corrugate under trucks and lose their gravel to the edges. We bring it back and reshape the road so it drains.

  • Traffic pushes gravel out to the edges, where it sits in a useless ridge.
  • Water runs along the low spots that are left behind and softens the base.
  • Potholes and corrugations form in the soft spots. Fill them and the water finds them again.

How we work a road.

One pass with a purpose-built machine, three things happening at once.

  1. 1

    Reclaim

    Bring the gravel back

Material that has drifted to the edges is cut loose and brought back into the running surface.

  2. 2

    Remix

Break it down and blend it

Carbide discs break up the hardened surface and blend the fines and stone into one consistent layer.

  3. 3

    Re-profile

    Rebuild the shape

The road is reshaped with a crown so water sheds to the sides instead of sitting in the wheel tracks.

Only after that can anyone honestly tell you whether you need more gravel.

If it's gravel now, it's a good fit.

We start with the surface you already have.

  • Rural driveways and lifestyle blocks
  • Farm access roads and laneways
  • Private roads shared between neighbours
  • Property tracks and firebreak access
  • Gravel car parks, yards and turning areas
  • Council, forestry and body corporate roads

Boorowa questions.

Which part of Hilltops do you cover?

The Boorowa district east of the Lachlan Valley Way. Young and Harden are covered by a partner operator using the same machine, and David can put you in touch.

Can you fit a farm road in around harvest or shearing?

Yes. Most roads are a day's work and can be driven on straight away, so it fits around the busy periods.

What kinds of roads can you work on?

Any existing gravel surface: rural driveways, private roads, farm access roads, property tracks, shared roads, gravel car parks and turning areas. If there is gravel there now, we can usually work with it.

How is this different from filling potholes?

Filling a pothole treats one spot. The reason it formed is still there: gravel has moved to the edges, water follows the low points, and the surface has lost its shape. We work the whole surface, bring the material back, remix it and rebuild the profile so water sheds off the road again.

Will you need to bring in new gravel?

Often not. Most roads have more usable material sitting on the edges than people expect. We reclaim that first. If the road genuinely needs more gravel after it has been reworked, we tell you how much and why.

Where do you operate?

The Southern Highlands, Illawarra, South Coast, Goulburn, Yass, Queanbeyan, Braidwood, Canberra, the Monaro, the Snowy Mountains, Tumut and Tumbarumba, and the Boorowa district. If you are outside those areas we can refer you to a partner operator using the same machine.

How do I get an estimate?

Call David on 0413 119 829, or send the enquiry form with your address and a few photos. He will call you back, talk through the road, and give you a price or arrange to look at it.

Do you work on council and commercial roads?

Yes. Council maintenance crews, forestry and farm managers, and body corporates with shared gravel roads all use this process. Insurance certificates and a capability statement are available on request.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the length of the road, its condition and access. Because we reuse the gravel you already have, it is usually far cheaper than re-sheeting. David will give you a clear price before any work starts.

How is this different from getting a grader in?

A grader blade pushes loose material around on top of a hardened surface. This machine breaks that surface down with carbide discs, blends the fines and stone back into one layer, and reshapes it with a crown. The result is a bound, drained surface rather than a tidied-up one, so it lasts longer between visits.

How long does the repair last?

It depends on traffic, rain and whether the drainage was fixed with it, but a road that sheds water lasts many times longer than one that holds it. Most owners see years rather than months, and a light touch-up later is quick because the shape is already there.

Why does my gravel driveway corrugate?

Corrugations form where tyres brake, accelerate or climb: the hard top layer vibrates loose and settles into ripples. Filling them does not last because the surface is still loose on hard. Remixing the whole surface into one consistent layer removes the ripples and the reason they form.
